FEC Releases Final Coordination Rules

FEC Coordinated Communications Rule 2010

FEC Coordinated Communications Rule 2010

The Federal Election Commission just released the final version of the coordinated communications rules that apply to outside groups.

The rules become effective December 1, 2010.  The scope of the coordinated communications rules were expanded in this rulemaking to cover communications that contain the functional equivalent of express advocacy year-round, as opposed to just express advocacy communications.
