National Democratic Redistricting Trust – FEC Advisory Opinion Request Update

Two pro-regulation groups, Democracy 21 and the Campaign Legal Center, filed a joint comment on the National Democratic Redistricting Trust’s (“Trust”) advisory opinion request with the Federal Election Commission.  The groups argue in their joint comment that Democratic federal officeholders and candidates should not be permitted to raise funds for the Trust from prohibited sources, such as corporations and unions, and in amounts that exceed the federal contribution limits because redistricting activities “in connection with an election for Federal office.”
